I suck at keeping up with this. It's been over 4 months since I've posted? Sad! Well, I have a new baby sister now, she was born last Sunday, so she's a week old today! Other than that, nothing really new. End-ish of the school year stress, summer plans, etc. I'm on Spring Break now, and it's really boring here. How lame am I that I stayed home over spring break?

Christians, represent! Let's get some background info here:
I went to Marquette for the Fire Up! Christian Youth Conferences last year, and I saw awesome bands like Morning Will Break, Mark White Band, and a few others. My group from First Union Church was bunking at a church for the night in town. After Fire Up!, there was a Christian Metal concert at the church. It was wicked sweet and there was this awesome (very cute) tall guy hanging around so me and my friend Jess went and talked to him. I later found out he plays guitar for worship at his church, which I attended on our way out of town the next morning, there we met again. I got his name (Walt0r Aho, on the right...yes, Walt0r, with a zero) and found him on MySpace. He plays in an awesome band called Abide with a couple of his friends, and they're way cool. Metal all the way and really original. I'm not even a metal head and I can enjoy them. Whether you're metal, or not, Christian, or not, give them a shot. They may just change your life through Jesus.

Well, in attempts to reconnect with my lovely boys, I send them a message and I was all up in their grill like, "Eyyy, Lights Outttt, what's up homiesss?!!!!1one" Yeah, okay, maybe I didn't quite say exactly that, but regardless, they told me what's up. When I asked, they had just gotten out of the studio, recording a new song that they'll be releasing November 27th, along with brand new everything on their MySpace basically. They're writing a new EP, set to record some more of it in January, and in the meantime, they're playing a crap ton of shows, which you can find one near you on their MySpace page. Keep up with these boys, their golden!

Hold up, wait a minute...put a little...L.A. in it! Sorry, I cheerlead too much. But, for real. My boys messaged me the down-low, and they're still the same loveable grouping of Josh, Jim, Christian, Teddy, and Joe, but there is one major difference: location! The boys moved out to Los-freaking-Angeles in September. There, they have been writing some new lyrical madness for their next album to be recorded in January 2010. They're really excited to get these beats down in concrete, and so I am! I can't wait to hear the new tracks. Hey fans, turn up the heat...message the boys to get me free beats! Ha, you like that?

Sounds Like: All Time Low meets The Maine

I so meant to review these guys eons ago. I met Mike, pictured, roaming the halls of Comerica Park at Warped Tour in Detroit, and be being a shameless self-promoter, told him about my blog. He thought it was wicked sweet and I promised to MySpace them and get them on here ASAP. I guess I just figured I did it already and forgot. Anyways, Lights Out consists of Mike, Ryan, Doug, and Chris. I don't know them all personally, but Mike was pretty cool. I have a picture with him on my Warped blog I believe. Kid has gorgeous eyes, completely illegal-acts worthy. Their music is the same kinda fun stuff that All Time Low does, spunky riffs, flowing vocals, you get the picture. Other than that, I have one word: awesome!

saturday night shakedown: talkin' with mike reed

So, I was a-talkin' to one of the SNS cuties via MySpace a few minutes ago, and cutie numero uno, Mike Reed, clarified some fogginess in the M.I.A. Josh Mondro issue. And really, in my opinion, it's a complete non-issue. As soon as I saw his smilin' face gone from the pic on SNS's MySpace, my soul did the happy dance. Just wasn't my kinda person. And the story behind his absence deepens these feelings.

I won't spill someone else's dirt when it's not my dirt to spill, but coming from Mike, he said that Josh basically lied then screwed him over. So, Mike is now the only original SNS member left. (I'm glad the sexiest one stuck it out) Mike's a really dedicated sweet guy, and I saw this in him from day numero uno. He was the one who started talking to me and got involved in my blog when it was just a wee baby in the makings. He was really supportive and helped me along by giving me stuff to write about, just like a lot of other people did. (Randy Randol, etc.) Mike "was very devastated" when all the boys started resigning, then Josh went AWOL, but he realized what the best of us do - it's all the for best. His heart's in it. Their hearts weren't. It was meant to be this way.

And he found 2 other people who feel the same way, and I can testify Chuck and Roby are hard-working, super dedicated guys. Chuck worked a lot on Michigan Bands MySpace with me, so I know how hard he can work when his heart and soul are there. I don't know Roby well, but I know he has to be great to be working with these two hunks - and by the sound of their demo they rock together. The new SNS is far from the old, but miles in a good direction. Mike "never really enjoyed the old music", though he wrote it. He says: "This new music is fresh, and comes completely from my heart. If im gonna write music, its going to be meaningful and something that i enjoy playing, and i hope that it helps people out with certain hard situations going on in there lives."

I can't keep up! They keep changing. I guess ix nay on Josh Mondro-aye? Say hello to the incredible trio, the original Michael Reed, who's heart and soul is composed of sheet music and symphonies, along with my home boy Chuck Hendricks (hello, Michigan Bands MySpace? Love!), and Roby Kost.

I'm not sure what the deal is with no Josh, and Chuck and Roby joining, but it may be awesome. Their new demo's are stellar. I don't know much about them though, I'm sort of out of the loop. I'll get my lazy ass on it though...

Josh and Justen have respectfully resigned from the band, because music just isn't for them in this point in their lives. Everyone will deeply miss them, they were cool, but SNS is now looking for a new drummer and bassist. The requirements are on their blog. Check it out if you play either!

saturday night shakedown: update & ep review

Well, last time I told you guys about Saturday Night Shakedown, the lineup was vastly different. Which isn't a bad thing, parse, because all the past band members have gotten them to where they are today. When I wrote about them in September of 2008, they had only two of the same band members they have now, whom would be Mike Reed and Josh Mondro. Since almost a year ago, they have lost the 2 Alex's, and Steve Korff. [Which, am I right when I say I saw Steve at Warped in Detroit, sans Tigger costume? I think he catapulted himself toward the stage during SNS's set on the Kia Kevin Says Stage.] Now accompanying Mike & Josh, is John Estupigan on the bass guitar, and Justen Snow on the drums. Mike, do you realize you're the only band member who's name does not start with a "j"? Since they found John and Justen, they have recorded their debut EP, "Better Than Hollywood" with producer Rob Freeman [Hit the Lights, Cobra Starship, Armor for Sleep]. After that release, they completed a 32 stop national tour in June and July.

Their EP, which I bought [finally] at Warped tour, is incredible. The first song on the disc, "It's About That Time", doesn't ease into the fun, it jump starts it with a bang! "1, 2, 3" starts things off slightly more mellow, but I still love the song. I'm really biased to it since it was the first song of theirs I ever heard, and every recording of it I have heard improved a ton each time into the perfect second track on their EP. I didn't really like "This Is A Kiss", featuring Rob Freeman when I first heard it, until I heard it live. It gives the song a new energy that no recording could catch. My suggestion would be to make a special edition EP with a video of them doing the song live. It would make the amazing better. I adore "Burning Bridges", it really reminds me of Forever the Sickest Kids, and Mike's guitar riff three quarters through is totally impressing. As good as the lyrics sound, I'd have to say I find my love for it in the guitar playing, as well as "Night At the Roxbury". I love the vocals, but the foundation of the music, the drums and the guitar and bass, outshine the vocals. It's a very good thing, in my opinion. In all the newer music, it's all about the vocals, but they're not really what's important, the instruments being played are. The last track on the EP is a remix of "1, 2, 3", which is completely awesome. It's so mellow and chill, I love it. It gives me a taste of a different side of SNS, a glimpse of some more possible acoustic tracks in the future, maybe? It reminds me how amazing they are as a band and how much more room they have to grow, that their current heights aren't as high as they are going to soar in the near future.

warped tour photo blog: 2009

So...wow. Warped was insane. So many people, so many amazing bands...it's an overwhelming experience. I missed a lot of my favorite bands, but I met a lot of awesome bands I have never even heard of, to make up for it. To start off the day, my friend Hannah and I wandered through the hallways of Comerica and looked at merch. The first people we found were Saturday Night Shakedown, one of my amazing Michigan Bands. They were such cool guys. We said adeu and we met the guitarist of Sing It Loud, such a sweet heart. We both got pictures with him, and promised we'd catch their set to him. How could we say no to that face?! Throughout the day, we also met Sparks Will Fly, Ben Hooligun, Shut Up and Deal, Lights Out, and more. Then Hannah and I ditched each other, to discover I had left my cell at home, so I panicked and tried to find her or my mom. I even used Josh Mondro's cell phone from Saturday Night Shakedown to try and get a hold of my mom, but I failed. I found Hannah shortly after that, and all was well. After we left, we headed out into the heat to see what's good. We caught The Devil Wears Prada singing "Still Fly", so we stopped for some pics because that song is amazing. We didn't stay long because that was their last song. I love how at the end, the lead singer said something about how he just wanted to say that Jesus loves everyone, and sorry if he offends. That was the loudest I cheered all day. So we wandered else where and saw some Attack! Attack!. I really wanted them to play the song they did for Punk Goes Pop Vol. 2. So I got bored and left because they're not the most amazing band in my books. Then we saw a band that we at the time had no clue who they were, but when we were at the Alana Grace tent, he was there. Which is how we met the yummy lead singer of Missiles and Markers. I do believe he signed my amazing highlighter-orange Saturday Night Shakedown bag, but I was listening to music so I didn't get a pic with him. After we saw them on the Kia Kevin Says Stage, we walked over to another stage to see some of Sing It Loud. They are such a happy band I couldn't help smiling listening to their music. They make me excited. Not sexually but just happy to be alive. After we caught a song or two of Sing It Loud, we went back to the Skull Candy stage to watch the painted whores themselves, the Millionaires. Which is funny, because when we walked up, that's what song they were playing. I love that song, but I was thinking...what hypocrites. Have you seen the lead singer? I don't think you can see an inch of un-made up skin...and her hair is huge. Then they started playing some other really stupid song so we left. I checked my home made Warped schedule, and I saw InnerPartySystem was playing soon, and I wouldn't miss that for the world, so I headed over that way. I weaseled my way halfway through the immense crowd, and waited til they started...I head a note of synth and I knew it was on! They were amazing but I left after a couple songs because I couldn't breathe in the crowd. I went back inside to find Hannah because I ditched her, and found her in a line to meet All Time Low, but she was in the wrong line, and I missed all but 20 seconds of Breathe Carolina's set. Fuck my life. Once I was done getting teary eyed over that, I went to go get in line to meet The White Tie Affair...and I succeeded! So happy. They all signed my bag and CD, and the bassist gave me his sun glasses. I waited in line for like an hour or so, but it was so worth it. I met up with Hannah again to weasel our way forward in the All Time Low crowd, and got really close to front and center. Hannah got pissed some girl was touching her and freaked out, bitched out, and decked her. All Time Low was awesome, first full set I stayed for all day, because I wanted to get up front for the next set, which was Chiodos. During ATL, I threw a bracelet up on stage to Jack B that said "Hug Me" of Hannah's. He got it! After ATL concluded their awesome set, I waited about 2 people from the front for Chiodos. Everyone was so close I couldn't breathe, but it made it worth it when I saw Craig Owens come out on stage in a TWLOHA shirt. I saw two of their songs before I left. Their crowd was too intense, I couldn't breathe and I was getting claustrophobic. Someone had their elbow in my throat, someone else in my stomach. Every crowd surfer fell on my head, and I single handedly saved someone's life when I caught them in my arms and lifted them back up. The last straw is when the crowd knocked my down on the ground, owning my knees, back, stomach, and back. Three other people fell on top of me, twisting my ankle and making me think my leg was snapped. I got up and screamed for everyone was to move their asses or I'd hurl on them, because i was dry heaving and kept throwing up in my mouth. I maneuvered to a dead end, and had to go out the other way. I shook and cried for like an hour, threw up 3 times. Damn you Chiodos. I cooled down sitting and drinking water for a while, nursing my cuts. Then Hannah and I headed out to see the piece de resistance, Saturday Night Shakedown on the Kia Kevin Says Stage. The crowd was really mellow, so I got up front, right on the barrier, and got some amazing pictures. I looked like havoc, from crying and my hair was a giant knot on top of my head from people falling on me, but it was the best part of my day. They gave an awesome show, what with Mike Reed playing barefoot and all...I couldn't stop smiling their entire set. They were easily my favorites. All in all, even though there were some scares along the way, Warped Tour 2009 in Detroit at Comerica Park was a great time. Some things could have been better, like next year I'll for sure be wearing only shorts and a bikini top. Set for the heat, set for if it rains. Let's just hope neither happen...overcast and a cool breeze in 2010 would be awesome! See all the pics I took here.

Mark White Band is an incredible Christian band out of Detroit, and one of my favorite bands. I've seen them live twice, and they are just awe-inspiring and empowering. I've met them, and they're really sweet guys. They have redefined Christian music, and made it more amazing thoroughly. Their band consists of the lead singer, dabbling with the guitar and keys too, Mark White, Mike Labelle on bass and synth, Pat Nagle on the guitar, and Josh Belokonny on the drums. Even if you're not a Christian, don't hesitate to give them a chance. They may just change your life, like they did mine.

Sounds like: Hit the Lights meets Panic At the Disco

From the lower peninsula, I show you with much grandeur, Past the Pacific! They've had and lost a few band members, and are in the process of finding a new drummer as we speak, but this pop-punk quartet can rock. Their new song, "Secrets, Lies, & Alibis", speaks with old punk rock roots, with the new age edge of pop finesse. The execution is beautiful, and lead singer Jake Wells' voice is distinctive, yet familiar and classifiable in the music scene. The entire picture is tied together by fun guitars, bass, synth, [and their ex drummer's beat] by Ryan Cline, Dylan Caron, and Brandon D'arca respectively. I hope to hear more from these boys!

On the 4th Thursday in the month of November, Thanksgiving, that the President picked long ago, after years of dispute between which Thursday it should be, I gave Mr. Randy Randol, 26, from Cutie Said an interview via phone. Randy is a down to earth guy who takes everything in stride. He gets his disposition and his family values from growing up around 4 girls. Manners and chivalry were instilled in him at a young age, and he admits he is nothing without his family, all who are close to him, related or otherwise. Here's what else he had to say!:

When I asked Randy how he got to know the guys from Cutie Said, he told me:
Mainly it was Chuck. I worked with his sister a while ago, and him and his brother worked at Best Buy for a while. Chuck and I started many random projects, but none of them really got going. When the boys found out Joel was out of touch, they asked me [to be in the band].

When did you first discover your talent?
I wouldn't call it a talent, I've just always loved singing. Especially growing up in the 80's, jumping on couches singing and stuff. Once you were in Middle School [at Davison], you had to take choir. I immediately fell in love and I want to do it for the rest of my life.

When I told him something related to me about my singing career [or lack-there-of], he gave me some advice and told me, "You know, problem solving, that's what I do"

How do you handle your mistakes? How does the rest of the band?
Depending on if it's live, obviously you know people don't catch up quickly, they won't notice if you keep going like nothing happened. Don't shake your head, don't stop, it's not noticeable. If it happens in practice, we stop and try to get things right, we go through the set list a few times so I get a chance to make up for mistakes. And believe me it happens, singing the wrong parts at wrong times and stuff like that. But thankfully, our last performance went over well.

What kind of environment do you thrive in?
It really doesn't matter if we're playing for a few people or 100. Like, we played a show at Hazel Park and there were literally like 3 people there. It gives it a more practice-y feel, you don't try as hard. But in the future, it's gunna be like every show, 1 or 100 people, we give it our all. From now on, we don't hold back. Energy is our main thing.

Do you just sing, or do you have any other major skills?
I dabble everywhere, I've played bass since the 6th grade, I recently tried guitar and know a little keys, like the major and minor scales, stuff like that. Other than music, I play hockey, do some poetry and short stories. I draw too. A lot I do has to do with art, my favorite medium is oil pastels. It's a family thing, art runs in our blood. Like, one of my sisters does picture manipulations. Artisticness runs in the family.

Did anything throughout your schooling help you to get where you are now?
I would say one thing helped me as far as music, it's all about family. They have been supportive and let me be me. Mistakes happen and you learn from them. My family always backs me up and gives me good critique. My parents will always be at my shows and people who back you help out a lot.

In general, how is the pay?
In general, it's free. It's not about the money, it's about getting us out there. Some people like ride off of other people to get out there, but we just promote, promote, promote. That's just us, it's all about the music.

Is this your dream? Or do you see this career as a stepping stone?
It's definitely a dream, I've always wanted to pursue it. As far as a stepping stone, I'm going to college to be an art teacher. I will ride music as far as it will go, whether 100 dollars a week or in a tour van broke, I don't care if I'm famous or rich. So long as there's passion and I love the people around me, I'm fine. I'm in this for the long run, but I've told the boys, as soon as this starts feeling like a job, and the fun and passion is gone, I'm out.

What aspect do you enjoy most?
The whole round experience. The boys, the feeling on stage, the fans. Once I'm on stage, it's all about the fans and giving them what they came for. And the boys...I'm stuck in a confined area with 4 other people who are technically family. These guys are my family now, I'd do anything for them.

What's the most stressful thing about the job?
The most stressful thing...oh this is so hard. There is not much that stresses me out. But mainly, it's the preparation. Finding the time with everyone, with jobs and busyness, to practice. We practice 3 times a week, and 4 to 5 times if there's an upcoming show. Just getting everyone in the same mindset, in the same place, at the same time. That can be stressful and difficult.

If you could give advise to aspiring singers, what would you say?
Never give up. If you're gunna give effort, do it right, just put yourself out there. I mean, I've never had a vocal coach or anything, just choir, but it's all about the effort.

Can you give me a brief layout of every day tasks for you and the band?
We have a set practice scheduled, 3 times a week at 7 or 7:30, and we do our thing. As far as anything extra, they'll call and ask to get together, but it's tough with school. Sometimes me and Terry will just meet up randomly, or he'll burn a CD of what he's been working on and give a copy to us all. It's mainly getting a hold of each other, or at least a couple of us can get together and practice.

With school and work and hockey, how much downtime do you get?
Hmm...downtime...I have none. Personal life...none too. Between work, school, and hockey, I'm lucky if I am able to get a lot of sleep. I'm so busy, but I love it. At times, fatigue catches up though and I gotta stop for a few days. As soon as touring hits, we're aiming for March or April, it'll be better. We'll be on the road and it'll be more like a vacation than work. New places, new people, new venues. I'm looking forward to it, the more we're on the road the better.

What message do you and the boys try to convey with your music?
A little of everything. Obviously, the break-up/love type thing. But when I write music, I try to write the upside of things. I'm working on this song called "Sweet Nothing", about how guys use girls to get what they want. It's an unfortunate truth, and pretty immoral, but that's just how life is. It's unfortunate that a lot of people get hurt that way, too. I mean, I was raised by 4 girls and I believe in treating the girl with respect, and holding their emotions before me, they come first. I'm definitely the sweet, nice, finish-last kind of guy.

What's in the future for you guys, how long do you see this going?
Something like forever. [laughs] Joke! It's something we wanna keep going. My rule is, once it starts to feel like a job, I gotta pull out. This isn't a job based group of guys. We're doing what we love, for people to be able to put on our music and feel better, or say this has changed how they looked at things. We do what we love and wanna keep it going. There's gunna be snags and bumps, but I don't see us parting anytime soon. We're a bunch of guys who get along well. We can only hope it keeps going smoothly. Whether it's a big show, or a house party. If we get signed, cool, if not, whatever.

Why the name change? [Cutie Said to Something Like Forever]
Name change...um, one, it's Joel's name. This is no longer his band, so we thought we should no longer have his name. Two, when you think of Cutie Said, if you never listened to us, you would automatically think some poppy music. We don't wanna be just one style, we wanna be more than that.

What's so special about [the name] Something Like Forever?
Um, Something Like Forever is a band from a long time ago, and I used the name when I was gunna start my old acoustic project. Chuck suggested it because music is something I wanna do forever, so it's the name I came up with. They liked it, and we rolled with it. The transition is already starting. At our show on Sunday [with Vega Under Fire, etc], we actually introduced ourselves as Something Like Forever. We're gunna be completely different, new band photos, which were a blast shooting. Going to Matt's house and having someone that Terry knew do them. Really professional guy, he took out of his time and did the pics for free. They came out amazing and I can't wait to get them back.

After I ran out of questions, I asked Randy if there was anything else he wanted in the interview. He told me not really, I had covered everything well, but he threw in this about the boys and their compatibility:

I love them. They're my family. In other bands I was in, I would sit back and think "ehhh, I don't think I'd be able to tour with them." But when I sit back and look at the boys in Cutie Said, I have no doubt touring with them and doing this for a long time would be amazing. I never doubt them, we just click.

Randy, all in all, is a very driven guy, and he is completed by the boys in Cutie Said [soon to officially be Something Like Forever!]. Hopefully you'll still be hearing more about them from me for the next 12, 15, 20 years!

Cutie Said, since their old singer is no longer part of the band, has successfully found a new singer! His name is Randy Randol, and he was a choir boy from Davison High School. He is 26 and lives in Davison. Not to drop names or anything...but he was in choir with Craig Owens! Majorly epic! And I hear from some primary sources he's super sexy [not Terry or anything...]

Other than that, the boys have a show on the 24th! Do work, make it there!

Can I getta wooooooot?! I scored an interview with Mike from SNS, and in my opinion, it is pure gold. I mean...look at that hunk in the plaid shirt up there. The boy IS pure gold... [the rest of the band is golden too, of course.] Here's what Mike had to say in responce to my questions via MySpace:

Q. Most bands have some quirky starting story. How did the band form?
A. Well my (Mike's) old band had broken up, and I wanted to start something new. So I did... :]]]

Q. If you could pick any inanimate object to represent your music, what would it be?
A. Probably a Disco Ball that was shaped like a Star.

Q. What's something from your childhood that inspired you?
A. I was inspired by Pokemon!

Q. What Michigan bands are you guys closest with?
A. We're really good friends with Atavan, and the dudes from Our Film Star are of course our homies! But you should def check out ATAVAN!

Q. Trick or treat! You guys still do the whole Halloween thing, right?! What are you guys dressing up as?
A. Steve is Tigger, Mike is a scary clown. Our new guitar player is gonna be Obama. And no one else is really doing that.

Q. What are your plans for the coming months? CD's, shows, etc?
A. We are going to New Jersey in December to record our upcoming CD with Rob Freeman(Hit The Lights, Cobra Starship, Armor For Sleep). And that CD will be release in early Febuary. We'll start touring in May. And then we'll continue touring on and on and on after that! And were gonna hit up the Detroit Warped [Tour] this year!

Q. I noticed that you guys have changed members a lot. How many band members has SNS gone through?
A. Well. SNS has only had about 6 or 7. But were just trying to find the perfect guys. We've gone through some very un-commited people. And you cant go anywhere without commitment. But our new guys are very commited. Expect SNS to soar through 2009.

Q. Boxers or man thongs?
A. Boxers...

Q. Elections are coming up! What are your views on those running?
A. OBAMA!

Q. If someone offered you a choice between an ensured relationship with your soulmate, and getting signed for the rest of your lives, which would you choose?
A. I can tell you right now that I'd stick with my lovely girlfriend. Because you don't need to be signed to be big.

Q. Fame and even just a select few fans can go to a persons head. What keeps you guys down to earth?
A. The fact that we're no different than any other person in the world. We walk, talk, and act the same. There is no reason to grow apart from our fans like most bands do. We will never let anything get to our heads. We are the most normal people you'll ever meet.

Q. Where do you see your band in 15 years? Apart, together, different?
A. Well in 15 years I'll be like 33. So I would hope that the band is together, but not at the same state we are now. Like I hope that we had made it by then, and were not just wasting our time. Haha.

These boys are HOT! I have recently been very fortunate and got an interview with Atavan via MySpace [oh the wonders of the WWW!] Here's what they had to say:

Q. Michigan bands form a tight weave - they stick together. Did you guys know Forever In A Day previously to planning this tour?
A. We have known Forever In A Day as long as we have been a band. They have always been very good friends of ours:)

Q. What are you guys going to be doing with your off time while on tour?
A. We are going to be hanging out with friends or family we know. We obviously will be hanging out with FIAD a whole lot! And we will be finding crazy things to do.

Q. What are your band's biggest inspirations?
A. Josh: I like a lot of bands in the pop/rock genre like Cartel, Saosin, and All Time Low. Joe: I listen to everything from Michael Jackson, to Four Year Strong, to NOFX. Teddy: I listen to a lot of hardcore, but I also enjoys pop/rock. Christian: I listen to Zebrahead, Yellowcard, and the Starting Line. Jim: I really like Innerpartysystem.

Q. Some bands are like best friends, some are like working acquaintances. How close is your band?
A. Our band are best friends like most, but we are very different than each other.

Q. Where did you come up with the name "Atavan"?
A. Christian's daughter, Cameran, was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and was given ATIVAN to help her feel better after chemotherapy. Atavan, our band, aims to make people feel better ;)

Q. Do you have any plans for a spring tour? If so, with who?
A. We are working on it. We also aim to record a new CD, and be on the whole 2009 Warped Tour.

Q. Who do you guys dream of touring with someday?
A. As long as we are touring with somebody, we don't really care :) We love a lot of bands, and there are many that we want to go out with!

Q. Who is the biggest band you've ever played with?
A. Haha, probably Just Surrender, Sing It Loud, or A Rocket to the Moon. We did the 2008 Warped Tour for a month. Does that count?

Q. Where do you see your band in 5 years?
A. On tour fa liiiiiiife.

Q. How did the band come to be?
A. Christian moved to Michigan from Nebraska, him and Josh met up, and started writing songs acoustically. Then Teddy came in, and played drums, with Joe following on bass. Jim just joined us recently.

Q. Were you guys in bands prior to Atavan?
A. Josh was in Stars Due Fall and Radio Pirate DJ. Joe was in Tough Call and Avery. Teddy was in Boy Retreats and Happy Hour. Christian was in Haven21 (in Nebraska), and Jim was in Search the City.

The boys in Forever In A Day are hitting shows like mad crazy these days, with a show at the Filmore in downtown Detroit along side the infamous Chiodos, Silverstein, A Skylit Drive, and Escape the Fate. Be sure to catch the show, it should be amazing! Other than that, they have a tour coming up in the beginning of October with Atavan, featuring many special guests. The tour dates range from October 17th, to November 20th, with shows in almost every state. Be sure to catch a show or two, it should be fantastic!

In December, they also have a show on the 13th at Skateland West, in Westland, Michigan. What else could you ask for for Christmas?! Well, I know, but I can't tell you - yet.

Hmm what to say about Grand Rapid's own These City Lights? Well, here's a tidbit: two of the members grew up in the north, where I live. Mr. Gary Kott and Cody Carmichael are northerners. Don't you just love older dudes who still have the spirit of old time rock 'n roll? I sure do! Will Von is a band from Lincoln Park, Michigan, and he just freaking rocks. He has an uber awesome cover of "The Walrus" by The Beatles [me and my mom love you forever!] as well as many other original songs. Will is largely inspired by the rock from the 70's and 80's as well as some punk influences. The man's got soul, dude.
